In concert with Blue Sky Farm, every summer we produce an average of 750 to 800 tons of grass and grass/alfalfa hay from large irrigated fields.  The grass is a mixture of orchard grass, brome grass, and timothy.  The hay is baled in small squares weighing 60 to 70 pounds and then bundled into 21-bale bundles that weigh between 1260 to1470 pounds each.  The bundles are solid and self supporting, quick and easy to move, ideal for hauling on flat beds, in van trailers, or in the back of a pickup truck.  Although we need a considerable amount for our own livestock we always have extra for sale.  Our hay is kept in large haybarns or outside in covered stacks until sold or used.  We do all of our own cutting, baling, and stacking so we can control the quality from start to finish.  We have to work with Mother Nature and always strive to put up all our hay just at the right time and in the right way.

We also produce an average of 700 tons of straight alfalfa that is put up in 3x3 bales weighing 740 to 760 pounds each.  This hay is put up by a custom hay contractor with quality and consistency at the forefront.  We will have hay test results following the first cutting.
